Fade From View

HD video / 1min58 / 2015

co-creation with Alex Freiheit

This performance is based on a close interaction between the protagonist and the camera, which plays an active role in documenting and analyzing each gesture. The protagonist’s wandering leads the audience into the raw space of a basement, the image almost becoming fantastic, with a pictorial quality. The performer addresses the ‘other’ in her native language, Polish, while dialoguing with and hiding behind fragments of masks, second skins. A meeting with otherness, even alienation.

Lasting Beast explores the links between two characters in a human-scale terrarium. Their relationship develops through parades and actions where human affects hybridize to animal behaviors. In this flux of passions and conflicts, the boundaries between the human-animal-vegetable-mineral realms becomes porous and reveal themselves in a strange viscous matter.
